The Rectory
Pastorie De Waal is a municipal monument. The former rectory was build in De Waal in three stages. The oldest central part dates from 1680. The front was added in around 1850. The third and last part is at the back of the house and where our Bed & Breakfast is located. This was built at the beginning of the 20th century to replace a former annex.
We have an old cellar that still retains it’s original blue painted tiles and the house expresses many old and beautiful details such as thick wooden beams and old authentic doors which have been sensitively restored. On our street side the building appears closed, but on the garden side it opens up into a generous and restful space.
B&B
The self-contained B&B annex offers you privacy and quiet. The eating space and sleeping room are located to the South and so both share a clear light and warm atmosphere with modest luxury.
Garden
Our wild garden is beautiful and planted with a heritage of many old and traditional species. First an abundance of winter snowdrops, then yellow narcissus and bright tulips, followed by soft hummocks of white wild garlic and later the sentinel arum lilies. We have Mayflowers in white and purple, lilacs and sweet mock orange trees. Our old elder trees flower in later Summer together with drifts of purple periwinkle. Colours change here constantly against a backdrop of tall Ash trees and Sweet Chestnuts: a hidden oasis for you to relax in and enjoy it's timeless space.
